Very. The red palm weevil (Rhynchophorus ferrugineus) bores into the crown of mature Phoenix palms and destroys them from the inside, often before any outward sign. A palm that took decades to grow can be lost to a weevil the owner never saw. A seasonal preventive programme plus regular inspection is the only reliable defence, and it is part of how we maintain palms across Limassol.
It depends on the species — and getting the timing wrong is how people lose flowers, fruit or whole branches. We prune each plant in its right season: structural and most tree work in the dormant months, hedges on a regular cut through the growing season, and flowering shrubs after they bloom. On a maintenance schedule this just happens at the right time, without you tracking it.
