Garden feature lighting
Solar spotlights for olive trees and garden features
Three brothers, one Paphos workshop, and a simple idea: an olive tree deserves better than a plastic stake light pushed into dry soil.
Planned, installed and maintained by us, across Cyprus, whether you are on the island or not.
Why the spotlight you ordered online never looked right
You bought a set of solar spotlights after seeing them advertised, pushed the spikes into the ground around the olive tree and waited for dusk. What you got was a flat white glare on the lower trunk, a dark canopy above, and two units leaning sideways within a fortnight because the spike was never made for baked Cyprus soil. By the second summer the housings had gone chalky and one had stopped charging altogether.
The problem is rarely the idea. Uplighting an olive, a carob or a mature cypress is exactly the right instinct, because the silver leaf and the twisted trunk are the best things in the garden after dark. The problem is beam angle, colour temperature, mounting and placement. A spotlight aimed straight up the trunk from half a metre away lights a stripe. The same fixture set further back, angled across the canopy and warmed down in tone, lights a whole tree and throws shadow onto the wall behind it.
Then there is the coast. Salt air near Coral Bay, Latchi or Limassol Marina eats cheap fittings, and a panel that spends the winter under the canopy it is lighting will never hold charge through a long evening. Choosing a spotlight is only a small part of the job. Working out where the panel sees sun, where the beam lands and how the fitting survives August is the rest of it.
Each lamp carries its own panel and battery. Nothing is trenched, nothing is metered, and the switching happens by itself at dusk.
What separates these from supermarket solar stakes
A store sells the light and disappears
We install it, and we come back to maintain it. That is not a promise about the product, it is a checkable fact about how we work, and it is the one thing no box shipper can offer.
Numbers instead of adjectives
Not premium quality but IP65, Corten steel, 3000 lumens, made to order in three to four weeks. Numbers can be checked, which is exactly why they can be believed.
Honest about the battery
Batteries age. That is physics, not a defect. Ours are replaceable, spares are kept in stock, and we fit them for you.
These are the fixtures we reach for most often when the brief is feature lighting rather than path lighting. We survey the plot first, check where each panel will actually collect sun through the year, then propose what suits the planting. Every order is invoiced in the normal way.

We do not stock that particular branded product, and we do not compare it with what we fit. What we do is look at the effect you are after, uplit olive trees, a textured wall, a specimen agave, and specify solar spotlights that deliver it reliably in Cyprus conditions. In most gardens the result people wanted from a stake spotlight is achieved with fewer, better placed fittings.
It depends on the size and shape of the tree and on what sits behind it. A young olive often reads well with a single fitting set back and angled across the canopy. A broad, multi stemmed old tree usually wants two, placed roughly opposite each other so the trunk keeps its depth instead of flattening out. We mock this up on site at dusk before anything is fixed down.
Warm white, almost always. Olive foliage has a grey green silver cast that looks natural under warmer light and slightly clinical under cool white. Cool white has its place on modern render, pale stone and some architectural details, so we sometimes mix the two within one garden and keep each zone consistent.
Not if the panel sits under the tree it is lighting. That is the single most common reason spotlights disappoint. Where the fixture has to go in shade we use models with a separate panel that can be sited on a wall, a post or an open patch of ground with clear sky above it, and we check the sun path across the seasons before fixing anything.
Every garden is different, so we do not publish figures. After a free first consultation on site we put together a written quotation covering the fixtures, the layout and the installation, and you decide from there. Pambos handles quotations and planning, so he will usually be the one you speak to.
