The extension lead that never goes away
Most Cyprus villa gardens were wired for the house, not for the garden. There is a socket on the terrace wall if you are lucky, and nothing at all along the driveway. So the pressure washer, the robot mower dock, the Christmas lights, the string lights over the dining table and the laptop charger all end up on one lead running out through a door that cannot quite close.
At night it gets worse. The drive is dark, the lead is a trip hazard across the paving, and the one socket you do have is under a downpipe or in full afternoon sun. Covers crack, contacts corrode in coastal air, and you stop using the far end of the garden after dark because there is neither light nor power there.
The usual fix is two separate jobs by two separate trades, dug at two separate times, through paving you have already paid for once. Owners who are only on the island part of the year rarely get both to line up, and the garden stays half finished.
Each lamp carries its own panel and battery. Nothing is trenched, nothing is metered, and the switching happens by itself at dusk.

Where a mains socket is wanted, the post is set and the trench planned with the garden build so the groundwork happens once, and the electrical connection itself is made by a licensed Cyprus electrician. Where power is only needed for light, solar posts avoid the trench altogether. These are the posts we most often set along drives and terrace edges.

Asked before ordering
No. A socket that runs tools, pumps or seasonal lighting needs a mains supply. Solar posts handle the lighting side very well, and on many plots we combine solar posts along the drive with one or two mains posts where power is genuinely needed, so the trenching stays short.
A licensed electrician in Cyprus. We plan the post positions, set the foundations, run the ducting with the landscaping works and coordinate the visit, but the final connection and certification sit with the qualified electrician on the project.
It depends entirely on the specification and the position. We look for a sealed, gasketed socket in a weatherproof enclosure, mounted away from irrigation spray and runoff, and we talk through the realities of salt air with you before anything is fixed in place.
