The garden disappears the moment the sun goes down
The terrace looks its best in the evening, and that is exactly when you cannot see it. The planting turns into a dark mass, the steps down to the pool become something you feel for with your foot, and guests end up clustered under one harsh security floodlight instead of spread across the space you paid to build.
Most owners try to solve it themselves. A set of cheap stake lights arrives, they glow for a few weeks, then the batteries fade in the summer heat, the plastic yellows and the salt air eats the fittings near the pool. The alternative looks worse: lifting finished paving and cutting trenches through mature planting to run mains cable to places nobody planned for when the villa was built.
So the lighting stays unresolved. The terrace gets used less than it should, the path stays a trip hazard, and the garden that was meant to be the reason for buying the house is only really enjoyed for a few hours a day.
Each lamp carries its own panel and battery. Nothing is trenched, nothing is metered, and the switching happens by itself at dusk.

For terraces and paths the aim is orientation rather than floodlighting, so a moderate output at close spacing usually reads better than a few very bright fittings. We look at the length of the run, the surface colour and how much of the sky each position sees, then specify output and spacing to suit. Where a large open area or a driveway is involved, a higher output post or a street style lamp is normally the better fit.
Solar fittings run on their own panel and battery, so there is no mains cabling and no trenching through finished paving or established planting. Posts are set into planting beds, gravel or a suitable base, and spotlights are staked or fixed near the plants they light. That is the main reason owners of finished villas choose solar for terraces and pool surrounds.
Heat and coastal air are the two things that finish off inexpensive fittings early. We specify sealed units with weather rated housings and materials suited to poolside and near coastal positions, and we place panels where they get a clean run of sun rather than sitting in the shade of a pergola or a palm. Battery performance does decline over time in a hot climate, which is normal, and replacement batteries are a straightforward job.
We do not publish figures, because a scheme depends on the layout, the number of positions, access and the fittings chosen. It starts with a free first consultation at the property, after which Pambos prepares a written quotation for your specific garden. Every order is confirmed with an invoice.
Because nothing is hard wired, a scheme can be extended in stages. Many owners start with the terrace and the main path, then add poolside planting, steps or the entrance in a later phase. We record the positions and the fittings used so that anything added afterwards matches what is already there.
