Chloraka
Chloraka sits on the coast immediately north of Paphos, a residential village that has expanded steadily over the last two decades into one of the more popular family-villa areas of the western Cyprus coast.

Three decades of luxury landscaping tailored to Kissonerga's specific microclimate, soil, and character.
Kissonerga sits on the coast between Paphos and Coral Bay — a quieter residential village with a strong agricultural heritage (banana plantations were once a defining feature of the area) and an evolving mix of family homes and newer villa developments. The character is more settled and rural than Coral Bay, more residential than Chloraka, and gardens here often have a working dimension that distinguishes them from purely ornamental neighbouring areas. Many properties incorporate productive elements — fruit trees, kitchen gardens, sometimes small remaining banana plantings — alongside the ornamental design. Our work in Kissonerga reflects this character: we design gardens that respect the agricultural heritage while delivering contemporary aesthetic standards. The microclimate is Paphos coastal but with slightly more inland warmth on plots away from the sea, allowing some species (particularly tropical fruits like banana, papaya, mango) that struggle on more exposed coastal sites.
Paphos coastal climate. Slightly more inland warmth on plots away from the sea front. Rainfall and winter mildness similar to Paphos.
Mixed agricultural soils — generally deeper and more fertile than Coral Bay or Chloraka. Some plots have residual banana-cultivation soil enrichment.
Three decades of work in this microclimate has taught us what succeeds — and what to avoid.
Mixed working/ornamental gardens require maintenance teams comfortable with both fine ornamental work and productive horticulture.
Older agricultural soils sometimes have nutrient depletion or pH imbalance requiring testing and amendment.
Newer villa developments on agricultural-margin plots often have engineered soils very different from the village's traditional rich soils.
About our garden services in Kissonerga
Yes — small-scale banana cultivation works well in sheltered Kissonerga gardens. The local microclimate (warmer inland, slightly less salt exposure) suits Cavendish and other commercial varieties. Production is modest at private-garden scale but the trees themselves are striking ornamental specimens.
On older village plots, often yes — decades of agricultural cultivation have built organic matter and fertility. Newer-build plots on agricultural margins may have very different soil quality due to construction disturbance. Always worth testing before establishing significant new plantings.
Yes — this is one of our most rewarding project types. Carefully integrated, productive plantings (fruit trees, herb gardens, sometimes small vineyards) add character and seasonal interest that purely ornamental gardens cannot match.
