Why most yard solar lights fade by August
A set of solar lights bought in spring usually looks convincing for a few weeks. Then the Cypriot summer arrives. Surface temperatures on a stone terrace or a south facing lawn edge climb far beyond anything the fixture was designed around, the small battery inside loses capacity much faster than the label suggests, and by high summer the lights are dimming out well before the evening is over.
At the same time the panel stops collecting what it should. Fine dust settles after every dry spell, pollen and irrigation spray leave a film, and near the coast salt in the air hazes the plastic and works on the fittings. Cheap seals harden in the UV, water finds its way in during the first autumn rain, and the yellowing lens quietly halves the light output. None of it happens all at once, which is exactly why people assume solar simply does not work here.
There is also the harder question nobody answers in a shop: how much light does a path, a driveway or a pool surround actually need, in which colour temperature, and how do you make a row of posts look intentional rather than like a line of borrowed garden ornaments. Villa owners who arrive to an empty garden are usually choosing blind, and the second attempt costs more effort than the first.
Each lamp carries its own panel and battery. Nothing is trenched, nothing is metered, and the switching happens by itself at dusk.

Asked before ordering
Three things matter more than brightness on the box. A battery chemistry and housing that tolerate high ambient heat, a genuine ingress rating so dust and winter rain stay out, and UV stable lenses and fittings that do not yellow or chalk in the first season. We also look for replaceable batteries, because the battery is normally the first part to age, and for finishes that behave near the coast where salt air is a factor.
Less than most people expect. A path or terrace usually reads best with modest, evenly spaced output, while an entrance, driveway or car park needs noticeably more. We normally plan the levels on site, because wall colour, paving tone and mature planting change how much light is really required.
A well sized system stores more than one night of energy, so a spell of cloud or dust typically shows as slightly reduced output rather than darkness. Winter days are shorter, so we size the panel and battery for the winter case, not the June case.
We do not publish figures, because every garden differs in size, layout, sun exposure and the number of fixtures involved. Each project is calculated individually and you receive a written quotation after a free first consultation. Every order is invoiced.
Solar fixtures need no mains cabling, so there is usually no electrical work and no trenching across finished paving. Installation is typically a short visit on site, though the exact duration depends on the number of fixtures and ground conditions. We confirm the timing with your quotation.
