How to Choose Solar Garden Fittings That Last in Cyprus
Three brothers, mediterranean gardens, beautifully kept. Here is how we judge a solar fitting before it goes anywhere near a client garden in Cyprus.
Planned, installed and maintained by us, across Cyprus, whether you are on the island or not.
Most solar lights are not built for a Cyprus summer
Searching for the best solar powered outdoor lights brings back page after page of near identical fittings, all photographed at dusk in a green northern garden. Nothing in those listings tells you how the housing behaves after a full Cyprus August, how the panel copes with dust off a dry hillside, or what happens to a sealed battery pack that sits in forty degree heat on a south facing terrace month after month.
So owners buy on looks and brightness claims, install a set along the drive, and enjoy it for a season. Then the lights start coming on later and going off earlier. One head stops entirely. A stainless screw blooms with rust because it was never truly marine grade. By the second or third summer the set looks tired, and replacing it piece by piece is impossible because the model has already been discontinued.
The frustrating part is that the fault is rarely the solar principle. Cyprus has the light. The fault is usually in the parts you cannot see in a product photograph: the thickness and finish of the housing, whether the panel is monocrystalline and properly angled, whether the battery is a replaceable cell or glued in, and whether the optic throws usable light on the ground instead of glare into your eyes.
Each lamp carries its own panel and battery. Nothing is trenched, nothing is metered, and the switching happens by itself at dusk.
What separates these from supermarket solar stakes
A store sells the light and disappears
We install it, and we come back to maintain it. That is not a promise about the product, it is a checkable fact about how we work, and it is the one thing no box shipper can offer.
Numbers instead of adjectives
Not premium quality but IP65, Corten steel, 3000 lumens, made to order in three to four weeks. Numbers can be checked, which is exactly why they can be believed.
Honest about the battery
Batteries age. That is physics, not a defect. Ours are replaceable, spares are kept in stock, and we fit them for you.
These are fittings we specify ourselves for villa gardens across Cyprus, chosen for housing quality, panel and battery access, and light that lands where you actually walk. Each order is invoiced, and we can advise on placement before anything is fixed down.
Asked before ordering
Start with the housing and fixings. Powder coated aluminium, corten steel or quality stainless resists Cyprus coastal air far better than thin pressed metal or painted steel. Then check whether the battery can be replaced and whether the panel can be cleaned and reangled. A fitting you can service is a fitting that stays in the garden for years.
No. Very high output heads on a short post usually produce glare rather than useful light. For paths and steps we prefer modest, well shielded output at the right spacing, with brighter posts kept for drives, car parking and larger open areas. Warm or neutral white is a separate choice again, and it changes how planting and stonework read at night.
Not automatically. Salt air and wind load are the two factors that separate inland gardens from seafront ones. Exposed positions need better finishes, sealed glands and posts set with wind in mind. We look at each position on site before specifying, anywhere in the south of Cyprus.
Speak to Pambos, who handles client contact, planning and quotations. The first consultation is free, we walk the garden with you, and every project is then calculated individually rather than from a list.
