Solar Outdoor Lighting
Solar Deck Lights for Terraces and Poolside Decking
Warm, low glare light along decking boards, terrace edges and pool surrounds, with no trenching, no cabling and no meter reading. Planned on site by three brothers who build and keep Mediterranean gardens across Cyprus.
Planned, installed and maintained by us, across Cyprus, whether you are on the island or not.
The deck looks wonderful until the sun goes down
You spent the money on the decking, the pool coping and the furniture, and for about two hours each evening it is the best room in the house. Then the light goes, and the whole area turns into a dark shape you cross carefully. Guests hover near the door because nobody can see where the deck ends and the water begins. The one bulkhead light by the patio doors floods the seating area, throws hard shadows across the boards and attracts every insect on the plot.
Wiring seems like the obvious answer until you look at what it means. Lifting boards that were laid last season, chasing a channel through finished paving, finding a spare way in a consumer unit that is already full, and doing all of it around a pool zone where the electrical rules are strict. Many owners quietly put the job off for another summer.
So the cheap shop bought stakes appear instead. They look acceptable for a few weeks, then the salt air dulls the lenses, the plastic goes brittle in the Paphos sun, half of them stop lasting past midnight, and the deck ends up with a line of mismatched lights that nobody wanted in the first place.
Each lamp carries its own panel and battery. Nothing is trenched, nothing is metered, and the switching happens by itself at dusk.
What separates these from supermarket solar stakes
A store sells the light and disappears
We install it, and we come back to maintain it. That is not a promise about the product, it is a checkable fact about how we work, and it is the one thing no box shipper can offer.
Numbers instead of adjectives
Not premium quality but IP65, Corten steel, 3000 lumens, made to order in three to four weeks. Numbers can be checked, which is exactly why they can be believed.
Honest about the battery
Batteries age. That is physics, not a defect. Ours are replaceable, spares are kept in stock, and we fit them for you.
For decking and pool surrounds we tend to work with low, controlled light rather than tall posts, so the fittings stay below eye level and the water reflects the glow instead of the glare. These are the pieces we specify most often for terrace and poolside work, and the final selection always follows a site visit, because orientation, shading and how you actually use the space at night decide the layout.
Asked before ordering
In most cases, no. Solar deck lighting has no mains cable running to it, so there is nothing to trench, nothing to chase through paving and no board lifting for cable routes. Fittings are fixed to the surface, set into planting beds beside the deck or mounted on adjacent walls. Where a project also involves mains work elsewhere in the garden, that part is handled by a licensed electrician, and we will tell you clearly at survey stage if any element falls into that category.
That is exactly why fitting choice matters here. Poolside and coastal terraces combine salt laden air, chlorine or salt water splash, strong UV and long hot days, which is the mix that finishes off cheap units quickly. We specify weather rated outdoor fittings intended for this climate and position them so that direct splash and pooling water are avoided where possible. Solar lighting is still outdoor equipment in a demanding environment, so we talk through realistic upkeep, such as keeping panels clean, at the planning stage.
Modern solar fittings charge during the day and switch on at dusk, and good quality units are designed to run through a normal evening and often to dawn in summer. Cyprus gives you a strong solar resource for most of the year, though shorter winter days, deep shade from a pergola or a run of overcast weather will reduce runtime. Because of that we plan panel positions for the clearest sky view we can find on your plot rather than promising a fixed number of hours.
Every deck is a different size, shape and orientation, so we do not publish figures. We price each project individually after a free initial consultation on site, where we look at the deck layout, the pool surround, how you use the space in the evening and how much light each zone actually needs. You then receive a written quotation covering the specified fittings and the installation work, and orders are invoiced in the normal way.
Yes, and that is the usual situation. Because there is no cabling to bury, solar deck lighting can be retrofitted to completed terraces, pool surrounds and steps without disturbing the finished surfaces. It is also straightforward to start with the main circulation routes, the deck edge, the steps and the pool approach, and extend the scheme later once you have lived with it for a season.
