Solar garden lighting
Lantern Style Outdoor Lights for Mediterranean Courtyards and Garden Walls
Warm, low glare light with a classic lantern shape, chosen and placed for stone walls, arches and enclosed courtyards across southern Cyprus.
Planned, installed and maintained by us, across Cyprus, whether you are on the island or not.
Why courtyard lanterns so often look wrong
A Mediterranean courtyard is a small, enclosed room made of stone, render and shade. Light behaves differently there than it does on an open lawn. A fixture that seems charming in a catalogue photograph can turn a limewashed wall into a flat white glare, throw hard shadows across seating, or simply disappear once the bougainvillea fills out above it.
Then there is the practical side. Many older walls in Cyprus were never built with cabling in mind, and cutting channels through stone or traditional render is work nobody enjoys sanctioning. So the lantern that was supposed to be the finishing touch ends up as a battery unit propped on a sill, dim by midnight and gone by the second summer.
Enclosed courtyards also complicate solar. Panels that sit in shade from a wall, a vine canopy or a neighbouring building for most of the day will not hold charge through a long evening, and the first winter is when owners discover it. The question is rarely which lantern looks nice. It is where light and panel can honestly go.
Each lamp carries its own panel and battery. Nothing is trenched, nothing is metered, and the switching happens by itself at dusk.
What separates these from supermarket solar stakes
A store sells the light and disappears
We install it, and we come back to maintain it. That is not a promise about the product, it is a checkable fact about how we work, and it is the one thing no box shipper can offer.
Numbers instead of adjectives
Not premium quality but IP65, Corten steel, 3000 lumens, made to order in three to four weeks. Numbers can be checked, which is exactly why they can be believed.
Honest about the battery
Batteries age. That is physics, not a defect. Ours are replaceable, spares are kept in stock, and we fit them for you.
These are the pieces we most often specify around courtyards, low walls and threshold areas, where a soft lantern character matters more than raw output.
Asked before ordering
Sometimes, and sometimes only with the panel sited away from the fixture. We walk the space, note where sun actually lands through the day and through the seasons, and tell you plainly if a particular wall will not charge well. Where solar is not sensible, we say so rather than install something that will underperform.
Our aim is minimal intervention. Fixing points are chosen with the wall build-up in mind, and in many cases freestanding posts or set pieces near the wall give the same lantern effect without drilling into historic masonry at all.
Warmer tones usually sit better against limestone, terracotta and olive foliage, and they are kinder for evening dining. Cooler light reads as more functional and is better kept for service areas. We discuss both during the visit so you can compare.
Every project is calculated individually, because wall type, shading and the number of fixtures all change the scope. Pambos handles the initial consultation, which is free, and a written quotation follows from that.
