Lighting for entrances and passages

Motion Sensor Outdoor Wall Lights for Villa Entrances and Side Passages

Light that wakes when someone arrives at the gate, the front door or the narrow strip along the side of the house, and settles back down again when the garden is quiet.

Planned, installed and maintained by us, across Cyprus, whether you are on the island or not.

The parts of a villa nobody lights properly

The front elevation of a Cyprus villa usually gets some attention. The side passage almost never does. It is the strip between the boundary wall and the house where the bins live, where the pool pump hums, where the service door opens, and where the paving is often uneven. In daylight it is a route you walk without thinking. After sunset it becomes a place you avoid, or cross with a phone torch held out in front of you.

Entrances have the opposite problem. Many owners leave a bulkhead or lantern burning from dusk until morning, which lights the doormat beautifully and tells anyone passing that the house follows the same pattern every single night. Others switch it off to save running costs and then arrive back from dinner in Paphos or Limassol to a dark gate, fumbling for a key over a step they cannot see. Neither version feels like the house they bought.

Then there is the practical side. These are often the walls with no spare cable run, no convenient switch position, and rendered or stone faces that an owner is understandably reluctant to chase and patch. Fittings bought online in a hurry tend to make it worse: a sensor with a field of view that triggers on every cat and every gust in the oleander, a cool blue beam that flattens the stonework, and a housing that starts weeping rust within a season or two near the coast.

Each lamp carries its own panel and battery. Nothing is trenched, nothing is metered, and the switching happens by itself at dusk.

Why Not Just Order a Box

What separates these from supermarket solar stakes

A store sells the light and disappears

We install it, and we come back to maintain it. That is not a promise about the product, it is a checkable fact about how we work, and it is the one thing no box shipper can offer.

Numbers instead of adjectives

Not premium quality but IP65, Corten steel, 3000 lumens, made to order in three to four weeks. Numbers can be checked, which is exactly why they can be believed.

Honest about the battery

Batteries age. That is physics, not a defect. Ours are replaceable, spares are kept in stock, and we fit them for you.

The Lamps We Quote Here

Sensor behaviour matters more than the shape of the fitting. For entrances and passages we usually combine wall mounted sensor units with low posts and discreet spotlights so that movement triggers useful brightness exactly where feet and hands go, while the surrounding planting keeps a soft baseline glow. These are the solar pieces we work with most often on this kind of layout in Cyprus.

Good To Know

Asked before ordering

It can, if the detection field is left wide open and aimed across planting. On site we set the sensor height, angle and sensitivity so that the trigger zone covers the walking route rather than the shrub line, and we check the behaviour after dark before we call the job finished. Cats, geckos and moving branches are the usual culprits, and most of it is solved by aim rather than by a different fitting.

Most villa entrances work best as a combination. A low, steady level keeps the door and step readable and keeps the facade looking cared for, then the sensor adds a brighter burst when someone actually approaches. Our separate page on motion sensor versus dusk to dawn goes through how each option behaves in practice, including on houses that are empty for part of the year.

That is one of the reasons we specify solar units for this application so often. There is no supply cable to chase into render or stone, which keeps the work tidy on finished elevations. The trade off is that each unit needs a sensible amount of daily sun on its panel, and a deep shaded side passage may need the panel sited away from the fitting. We look at that during the site visit rather than assuming it.

Pambos handles client contact, planning and quotations, and the first consultation is free of charge. He will walk the entrance, the side passage and anywhere else you feel unsure after dark, note what the sun actually does to those walls through the day, and set out the options in writing. Every project is costed individually once the scope is clear.
