Pyla occupies a unique position in Cyprus — one of only a few villages where Greek and Turkish Cypriot communities lived together throughout the partition era, and where today the village still has a slightly different character than purely Greek-Cypriot communities. From a gardening perspective, Pyla is straightforward coastal Cyprus: hot summers, mild winters, sandy coastal soils, and a residential mix of Cypriot family homes and expat-owned villas. Our work in Pyla tends toward family gardens that combine practical outdoor living (covered terraces, kitchen gardens, sometimes small fruit orchards) with ornamental design. The proximity to the British Sovereign Base of Dhekelia adds a small but reliable expat client base of military and civilian personnel posted to the area, often looking for low-maintenance gardens that survive the periodic moves these families make.
